One of the most interesting stories from the World Championship was the dominance of the united states players in the event, specifically of Team Ooga Booga putting six of its players into the Top 16. I am not here to talk about the decks they ran, Corey has covered that in his column, but instead Im here to talk about the important concept of teams in WoW. Teams have existed in TCGs since the beginning of organized play for larger prizes and have really evolved over the years. For me there is a distinction between a team of players and the people you play with locally whenever there are events. Sure, your team can be made up entirely of your local play group, or even your best friends in the world, but chances are you will not be successful on a wider scale when it comes to events like Continentals or Worlds, or even DMFs. So what is a WoW team and why should you be looking to join or build one?

Teams are an interesting concept in WoW. It is funny when i talk to my non-gaming friends about my team in WoW, because at its core the game is an individual effort (with the exception being the specific team events like the upcoming DMF Baltimore and the World Cup) but I get questions like how did your team do, and the answers get complicated when there really is not an answer. Most people equate the term team with team results; wins and losses like a sports franchise.
So why even bother with a team in an individual sport? Well, we all have a limited amount of time to dedicate to the WoW TCG and you need to make that time count. It is not enough that you take time out to playtest matchups. You need to make sure you can trust the results when you are personally playtesting with a solid partner iwowgold or group. You need to make sure you are testing and building the correct decks. Finally you need to trust that when you are not physically (or virtually) there testing that you can trust others results. With the ever changing nature of the card pool available heading into the next DMF/Realm Championship/Realm Championshp Qualifier season/major event it is wow po pas cher important that you pool your ideas together to create a viable potential metagame for this new format. For example, heading into DMF LA it is not enough to simply sleeve up the best decks from the Worlds or the last Metamart event, even for testing purposes. The Dungeon Decks and Fall Class Starters have to be considered when building. So could you sit around and create dozens of options alone to play to practice for DMF LA? Sure, but you will do much better if you bounce these ideas off of others, especially those whose opinions you trust. Rarely has the Ronin rose to the top of the heap in tournament play.
